Niostem - Hair Care Technology

A client approached our design agency with a request to update an existing application for their project. Niostem (formerly known as Mane Biotech) offers an innovative product that is somewhat unique in the market. While there are analogs that perform similar functions, there is a significant difference in how Niostem's product achieves its results. It is a device designed to reverse hair loss within 6 months.

Without diving too deeply into the science, here’s a simple explanation of the product: Niostem has a special helmet that stimulates stem cells using 11 electrodes, thereby awakening hair follicles and allowing hair bulbs to grow anew.

This method is non-invasive, does not depend on any medications or shampoos, and has no side effects. For stable and quality results, it requires daily efforts, namely wearing the device on the head for at least 30 minutes every day for a minimum of 6 months.

SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES

✦ The device is silent and doesn’t emit light when connected. However, its fit may vary due to differences in skull shape and hair volume, causing issues for some users.

✦ Users must use the app daily for at least 30 minutes over 6 months. Maintaining attention can be difficult, especially when early results are not visible, leading to frustration and potential abandonment.

✦ As a startup, the project has limited UX research tools. All analytics, feature usage data, and user surveys were provided by the client based on their own research.

SOLUTIONS

✦ Creation of a dedicated screen to check the connection in real time with clear visual indicators.

✦ Reminding and motivating users through various UI elements with perfect UX part.

✦ We used more simple UX tools that didn’t require a large budget.

SOLUTIONS

I researched competitors and, based on analytics data from the client, created personas that greatly assisted us in developing the CJM. We identified the most critical pain points, which are during the user's experience while using the device, to keep their attention, and after using it, as the user doesn't see an immediate effect.

SOLUTIONS

We went through many ideas before settling on the final version. Overall, we had 4 major iterations before agreeing on the final one with the client, where their desires intersected with what we think to be the best possible UX solutions.

This project was intense. It was my first project in Team Inno, where I communicated directly with the client. I learned to defend my design decisions and justify them in this project.
