During the Ruhr Summit, we met the founder of a startup from Weimar who needed help with the design aspect. In a joint online workshop, we identified the project's problems and needs. The existing project required a more practical, user-friendly, and modern interface, which is why the founder came to our design studio

SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES

✦ The project is highly targeted at niche specialists, making it difficult for general users to navigate the public version.

✦ Entering information on the map is difficult even for experienced specialists; the interface is overloaded.

✦ The lack of a unified design for platform users in both the public and professional modes, and the absence of a UI kit.

SOLUTIONS

✦ Both versions will be separated. Citizens who use it will get access only to the sections that are relevant to them, while other functionality will be hidden.

✦ The new interface is clearer than the previous one. There will be sections with clear visual information that can directly point to the new object.

✦ We have developed a UI kit and basic templates that allow for the easy addition of new pages. The design is now unified under a common theme and is intuitive for users across all platforms, including mobile.

The main users of the project are professionals and common users, so they were divided into three personas. One of these personas is a student urbanist who does not need full access but is simply interested. The other two personas are professionals representing two different perspectives: business and government.

Urban development that connects data and people is what I have tried to achieve in this project. Public, self-generated, and citizen-generated data can bring the city's digital twin to life. This allows decisions for construction projects to be made better, more cost-efficiently, and more transparently. Therefore, it was a challenge for me to design the necessary table system, which can handle dozens of data inputs.

The project is still not fully completed and is in the final stages of development, testing, and bug searching. But I can say that this has been a very unique experience for me, as I had to consider numerous inputs and the specifics of working with maps. This was also the first time I attended a brief that was entirely in German.
